Masako (our flat owner) mentioned there were restaurants around Katanoshi station, a different nearby station. so when we FINALLY got up at mid-day, we went to explore.
FYI - Pocket WIFI is amazing. It makes life 100% easier, and is portable anywhere at all.
Pretty Cherry Blossoms are EVERYWHERE!
We wondered some pretty side streets and the traditional Japanese houses are really lovely:
And some of the doors are tiny! (Ryan looks worried because something was scratching at the door - but I could see it was someone collecting their post the other side!
We stopped by at a Sumiyoshi shrine. Apparently there are over 2000 of these in Japan.
And we practised with the selfie stick while it was quiet!
Next up, to our original destination - and there are LOADS of restaurants. It was a little early, so we stopped off at a shop or two.

We found a giant, buy anything shop with a super market underneath and cute shopping trolleys:
And all the veg is expensive and SMALL. Why would carrots only come in sets of three?
