Making Friends

We got back from a run, (hence red face).. and were confronted by Rateni, our new non-english speaking friend.

He wouldn't let us leave, so after 15 minutes of crazy pointing, bike tire pumping, and several moments where we thought we should just hide from the Japanese overload... We were 'forced' to ride two bikes up an down the street. Apparently they are for our use!

It seems if you don't understand, Rateni will just keep speaking in the hope that if he say's enough, you may just get the gist!

Another lunchtime expedition! Our first restaurant where shoes are left at the door.

We have learned, big plates in tables are in fact cookers and very hot.. Don't touch! There are likely no signs to tell you, take it as obvious :)

And be sure to smell anything that looks like bacon.. it is almost always fish!

We had traditional Japanese pancakes! Made up of noodles and vegetables and bits of pork (we learnt the Japaneses for pig just to make sure!) This is as close as we have got to cooking real Japaneses food ourselves so far.

Definitely a favourite!
