The drums were beating.
We heard some distant drumming, and after a quick debate over if it was train tracks of drums, I dragged Ryan to follow them jumanji Style!
Amazing we found a sake festival!
Some pretty fab celebrations!
After soaking up an amazing time here we headed to the one and only Shibuya crossing!
SO many people, I had to get a better view.
As if that wasn't confusing enough, we saw this. Amazing marketing stunt!
The genuinely couldn't see, so the guy (kind of hidden) in front of them was guiding the way, I think they were following his feet.
Also, there were two Prince Charming's running around during the crossings trying to get people to try on a glass slipper!
Whew!
It may be time to have a break from the craziness of this part of Tokyo.
We hopped on a train to a quieter part of town.
The Sengakuji Temple. Home to the graves of the 47 Ronin.
The historical story n Japan is very popular, and people visit to be in their presence. There a number of incense sticks burning at each grave, lit by visitors, and apparently there is an annual festival to commemorate them.
Story in short: 47 samurai were left without a master when his castle was attacked. They spent a year out, met up and sought revenge to kill their masters attacker (Kira). They then committed Seppuku. So no happy endings in that one!
It was all pretty interested thanks to the mini museum which has an english film to explain the whole story and significance of parts of the temple and artefacts.
