It seemed Hiroshima was not destined.
We made it happen anyway :)
First we missed our (pre-brought) bus, so raced to get the super expensive train to get the at the same time. Ok, it was about £60 each, but we have been used to cheap transport recently.
Then we attempted to see the baseball - sold out.
Followed by Ryan feeling a bit worse for wear on our second day (nothing at all to do with rich food or wine!) AND the mosquitos of Japan descended in a big way!
Finding a cafe with adult/kids sandwiches was a huge bonus. Peanut butter rocks! I wish I took some pictures inside, or of the actual sandwich!
We did find the hotel with relative ease, it was quite 'earthy' yet 'urban'.
We decided to go for a walk, as per usual :)
This time to find some temple.
Nope not this one...
Or this one...
On the way...
Whew found it!
Damn it's closed.
HA :D
Oh well! Back to the hotel. :) It was a really pretty walk.
Not to mention - grassy trees. Love it.
After a rest we went restaurant hunting and found a fabulous Italian. Small, only a handful of tables, and has a silent movie playing on one white brick wall. What we ordered came as courses. First our salad. I was not 100% impressed at a rabbit food entire course.
But the steak soon cheered me up!
The next day was quite a somber morning at the peace memorial park with all of the memorials.

The A-bomb dome was especially eerie. The very spot where it all happened, and therefore left the structure somehow standing
The museum was also especially emotional. A small blackened tricycle amongst other things now has me as a firm believe that all such weapons need to be destroyed. Photos not allowed after this point.
Peace turtle :)
We wondered around the grounds of Hiroshima castle
To Be Continued - I don't think this blog can handle the image sizes and I'm way too lazy to re-size them - next post!
