This was at the start of the journey - a bit of an indication of the dusty road ahead!
Out landlord kindly left us a bunch of English print outs of little-known walks in Ronda.
We being us, picked one, took a bunch of water bottles and kinda just set out hoping we might get to where ever it is they lead to.
It started out by this little bar, which we have already tried - going out for tapas every day means you get to know a few of them!
We followed the, to be polite, 'vague' instruction sheet...
And walked for miles down a track surrounded by olive groves. We did pick the hottest day of the week, lunchtime, to walk through what looked like a mini desert.
It resulted in us feeling like this a little:
All on the hunt for what the piece of paper said would be - A Blue Arrow and Three Dots.
Needless to say due to piece of the text being missing, we guesstimated towards mountains until we found it!
Yeah we didn't think it was that obvious either. Total celebrations though, and next to find the cliffs on the left hand side.
We thought it meant these:
But they totally meant these!
interestingly enough these were also signs from the instructions that we were on the right paths!
(Left, a gate, obviously, except on the right-hand side ravine there was a farm with dogs going crazy and a tiny wire fence separating us!)
(Middle - An old roman (apparently) mill house in ruins.)
(Right - A sign clearly saying something is not allowed... Oh well!)
We ended up on the old Roman walkway through the mountains, over 1000 years old, some parts still had the original cobbles. (Yes I got all this from the instructions - great for facts, not so great for directions).
Then things got seriously pretty!
Our final hurdle was to find the river which we had to cross via stepping stones. We thought we were nearly there every time we heard running water.
This was totally a mis-step because we did find it but...
Ryan found a cricket. There were hundreds, but apparently this one was ripe for a photo opportunity.
Me waiting while I burn in the sun.
Out of about 20 photos - Ryan got one he accepted. Although it kind of blends in a bit.
We did find what we were looking for! Fan Cave!
(Slideshow time!)
Much love
