Setenil - disaster!

Setenil is apparently lovely, it has lots of houses and shops etc, all built into the mountain. They are in fact caves which have been converted into homes. If gives the the special property of being cool in summer and warm in winter.

We were due to arrive at 13:30 on the train, and it would give us only until 15:10 to get back for the only other train home.

Once on the train, the train driver informed us, as we hopped off, that Setenil station is in fact 8km from the village of Setenil, and that there was no chance of a taxi or bus.

So without water, and a confirmation by the station guy we had nothing to do but wait... He disappeared for a siesta the entire time we were there, so my Spanish attempts must have been a little irritating :)

In our first hour, we mainly had a look around...

Yes, certainly barren and bare. Got that one ticked off the list!

We walked a little way up the road.

But apart from a derelict building, it was olive trees and parched grass the whole way to the village. We would have walked if there had been time, but that plan of action was a no-go with the last train so soon.

This summed it up. But at least we had a good long chance to make social calls!

Next time in Ronda we will try again. By Bus. They may have their own timing, but at least they are not misleading about their destinations.

Much love
