Ronda Life :)

A quick round up of all things ronda-ish!

Bells.

They ring, they hang on most churches, and they have someone to operate them, or are automated.

The bells here have a mind of their own.

8:25am... 9:10am... 3:16pm

Being in the very centre has its perks. But being by SO many churches, none of whom actually ring on the hour is a bit confusing.

You might think they are just out of sync. Well at 12noon they ALL ring. Its like a crescendo of bell ringing in lots of different tones!

if they know it's mid-day, surely they know the rest of the times...

Anyway I walked around a couple and recorded some of the bells at noon. I only got a couple because my camera batteries died, but they set off, one after another for about 10 minutes or so.

Lesson learned. Sometimes the cheapest wine really is the best!

Expect music. Just do. It is part of life :)

If you are a fan of interesting little side streets, it may take you three times as long to reach anywhere.

Navigating your way around tour groups in the old town becomes a bit of skill involving mental preparation and off-the-cuff route planning.

These little shops which line the more touristy areas are SO cute. They are actually a tourist attraction: Souvenirs EL Antojo de la Muralla

Friday is delivery day. Be careful, drivers here are not the most dedicated to their craft :)

FANCY A CHAT On the street?

The total best way in Spanish opinion it seems, is to stand someone fantastically obstructive.

A door way of a shop is perfecto! Failing that, a large enough group to span the pavement will work too!

Another point here is pavement etiquette. If two people are heading your way, please do not expect one of them to set aside to give you room to pass. It is a lot less stressful to cross the road in advance or find a doorway to huddle into.

FOODS of Ronda

So things are pretty traditional, Butchers counters, cheese counters etc. It does mean you have to know what you want, and we are learning quantities as we go!

We have neglected food pictures, but below are some, and the pan in the middle is a potatoe omlette made by Ryan himself!

Much love
