SO I probably mentioned it a few times, but I know NOTHING about Italy, but always wanted to go. So we are :D
We had an afternoon flight, so everything was really really relaxed. We had it all packed (Admittedly only 70% full bags now. Talk about downsizing!) had walked Molly and eaten a steak lunch :D
The doggy bags even made it to the airport with us.
The flight felt short, and we picked up a great ride to the apartment. A guy with a badge came up, asked us if we needed a taxi, and w said yes.
They calculated (for ages) the distance to our address, and gave us a cost which we expected - thanks to our hosts recommendation - so we took it.
We followed to the carpark and realised we were heading to the big black 4x4 people carrier with blacked out windows and blue interior lighting.
It looked a bit mafia! Totally comfy though :)
It took a while to find the ACTUAL place, and roberto and chiara met us there.
Such a lovely welcome, we were greeted and shown everything in the apartment (which is lovely - and pink! ha)
We had been asked what we like for breakfast - we said fruit and sometimes toast.
Well.
We were greeted with a fridge STUFFED with various fruits, ham and cheese a cupboard of tea's, cereals and bread a bottle of wine, and chocolates on the bed. What a welcome!
After talking a little while, they asked if we had eaten - nope - so they took us out to dinner in a town 20 minutes away. once they found out we had no car, they determined we had to go there with them so we could experience it.
It was lovely! A row of little restaurants, and we picked one, and we shared a actual feast! It looked like every dish they might have was there on the table, and it was all amazing!
Antipasti - cheeses, hams, porchetta, , olives, chick pea dishes, mozzarella, more meats and dried spicy meats, breads - everything! To be followed by no less than 4 different pastas. For those of us who cannot choose ha! We had not ordered anything, leaving it the experts, and answering questions of ... have you tried.. or do you like....
loved it a
It was a late night. we did not leave the flat until 9pm, so we were last at the restaurant and Roberto and Chiara were in no hurry, so neither were we!
Amazing and very 'italian'
Apart from a beautiful big dog wondering in the road and giving us all a fright when driving home,a fantastic evening for our first day in Italy!
Much love xxx
