A crazy kind of Bank Holiday weekend in THE most beautiful place.
These guys came to visit for long days of getting lost, Prosecco, Seeing The Sights and Gelato!
The opening to arriving at Venice was stunning, and BUSY!
We took the first half of the day to really wonder around, and marvel at how quiet it was off the tourist route.
Lots of little bars and restaurants and loved the random musicians playing at various places.
Taking photos of the canals was of top priority. There is something uniquely magical about not having roads, and seeing canal life in such full action
I have put SO MANY photos of pretty canal shots in this slideshow as that I don;t fill the page with 101 photos...
Bridges and pretty buildings are everywhere of course, because what else should you expect in such a romantic place?
Eventually we did remember we were tourists and should probably make an effort to see the main places.
St Marks Square was quite a site! Pete went into the Cathedral,But Abbey and I had bare shoulders, and Ryan had the bag, and it was closing in a few minutes, so we ended up waiting outside.
Supposedly, this is one of th lowest areas of the island, so beware when it floods!
You wonder around the historical architecture and BAM!
Giant white hands appear reaching out of the water.
Getting Arty is always a factor! - calling attention to climate change this (5000 pound) sculpture is supposedly propping up an old Hotel to depict the threat of climate change, and the power we have to stop it.
Quite a strong visual as some people predict Venice's streets will be submerged by 2100 as the sea is set to rise 5ft.
Beautiul boats :)
Beautiful people!
And beautiful food :D
Plus an introduction to Apperol Sprite!
Much Love xxx
