Islands and Water Transport (otherwise known as boats)

So what better way to travel when there are no roads?

The water bus!

There are stations lined up along the canal, and you kind have to figure out the waterways (image maps like tube maps in London) and get in line. It was so hot, and it felt quite a long time, but we crammed our way on and scrambled to get seats!

I tried a few photos, but the windows were a bit dirty.

We were heading straight out to Morana - Famous for it's glass. We never did find the glass factory, but we watched part of a demonstration we somehow got into for free :) I assume it was just as good!

The town was pretty, made prettier still by sunshine and sea-time.

The glass sculptures in various places were pretty impressive, although the entire island had a bit of a 'For Sale' feel, with shops calling themselves museums or factories - with price tags - but at least they are upfront about it.

Pete's poses of the day!

We found the most gorgeous tucked away restaurant. The food was more 'high end' then we usually visit, but totally worth it!

The second trip of the day was to Borano - AKA BALAMORY!

The colourful houses here are definitely a sight to see. Apparently they were jealous of the more elaborate Venice so they went colourful.

No two neighbouring houses are allowed to be the same colour, and if they wish to change the colour of their house, they must apply via a permit. Strict!

There are so photogenic, get ready for an array of colour below!

The town center itself was pretty bustling, mainly catering to tourists, with limited supplies for locals really.

As another fact of interest the island also has a secondary reason to be famous - LACE!

Super pretty :) <3

Much love xxx
