Train Trips to Venice Again! The four of us :)

The trains are really regular, and really cheap - 3.40 euros each way, not bad when there are plugs to charge phones at hand.

We started with another wonder around, Abbey and Pete has Instagram at the ready for all of their scenic shots. As we share a phone with no space at all we didn't join the Instagram craze.

We head

Our main goal of the day was the Doge's palace! It had a great rating (thanks Google!) so time to check it out.

It certainly looks impressive enough.

It was surprisingly informative, especially with the audio guide at hand. The Doge's quarters are quite limited and small, as he is supposed to be a servant of the people, and elected for life as the highest 'official' and

Some interesting stories about the spy's circles for the council of 12. They had secret passageways and revolving doors (below) for elaborate effects, and the peep holes called the lion's mouth (below) to pass messages through.

We visited the armory rooms (Ryan was in his element of course!)

And most importantly, the dungeons. famed for their cruelty, and the fact they flooded so often. The most money you had, the nicer the room, and the less cruelty you faced. they know about the punishments from graffiti drawn all over the walls. The bridge of sighs between the dungeons and palace is the last view prisoners saw on their way to the interrogation rooms. It is a bit of a maze of tunnels inside, so no getting lost!

After our day was done and we headed home, Pete stopped by to grab a beer for the flat in the take away. It may sound strange, but the super markets were closed, bars closed, and we had nothing left in for him! Typical Mondays here.

He did make a friend, and a little girl ran straight into him and started hitting around his legs - eeeek!

Much love!
