An interesting way to find out about things - go to the bar and find a random leaflet. We actually found this one at our bar/cafe run by a nice Japanese lady (maybe Japanese - there is a Japanese restaurant next door we think is run all by one family but not sure). Either way they do a lush Apperol Spritz!
Italy really lacks online presence, so finding most things is pretty hard, and relies on the flyer effect still.
This one talked about Treviso - 500 year's of the walls. There was a whole weekend of events, we managed to catch the closing parade!
It was in a completely different area of Treviso we had yet to explore! I think perhaps the 'posh; part, as there were load of gorgeous mini-mansions.
It was a pretty walk, as most things here seem to be, and a big cannon announced our arrival at the armory!
We climed a funny tower to a sight which put Ryan in his element - Historical stuff and weapons.
These guys were dressed up, so I asked for a photo for a laugh - they said yes and that they would be in the parade!
Then we found out he was actually the most important swords-maker in Italy - so called :) Did not know this was a thing still. Either way, we accidentally started a trend, and people began to line up for photos when they saw me getting one - Sorry guys!
Around the corner, we didn't expect much, but the fun had just started! A whole village set up for us to wonder around and pretend we were time travellers :) It was really great the details they had gone to - talk about being in character! It must be a bit of a different hobby to dress up and cook over fires and play old board games or make pottery etc for the day for people to watch. We were not sure how they found so many people to play the part as there must have been over 50 odd.
The parade wasn't for a little while, so we took a wonder along the city walls.
Ducks again!
Also a cute bar with beds for seats :)
Finally the parade!
For once it started on time, and we happened to wonder across the start point as they were lining up.
So after so much excitement, we went to check out an AWESOME restaurant we found - its literally a giant BBQ. Love it! Ryan made friends with the waiter, shame he was a Newcastle fan.
It started to suddenly pour down half-way through, even though the sky was still clear and blue. This seems to happen quite a bit recently here. We were pretty content to sit under the giant parasols in the rain, it made a nice change to the heat!
YUM!
Looking forward to some BBQ's back in the UK!
Much Love
