Trips to Town

The subways seem a bit ever-changing with the numerous pop up markets and stalls. Although sometimes creepily empty?

We popped into Milan for a bit of the tourist scene of course!

First on the list, Duomo di Milano.

Simply stunning!

We queue for a long long time. Outside, in the heat.

Then it turned out to be a theme park ride trick where each corner becomes a mini goal to reach and you feel there are less people in front because you can;t see them.

When we got inside the building, a new system became apparent, and you grab a ticket, to wait until you are called.. to join the queue to get your ACTUAL ticket.

At this point we decided we have seen enough Cathedrals in Italy, and walked all the way around the outside instead to get our architecture fill.

On our wonder, we found what turned out to be a famous little niche :)

Luini makes amazing panzerotti – pillowy fried dough parcels stuffed with tomato and mozzarella .

YUM!

The city is open, and clean, but really not as different as other places we have seen, it is much more 'generally European' in style and approach. More of a working city than a tourists city, with A LOT of fashion shops and crazy price tags. We did take a peek, what was more surprising was the sheer amount people were buying - it's not Matalan prices there!

There are of course SOME touristy parts:

We walked the famous Galleria Vittorio Emmanuele II Shopping Centre and wondered the museums.

We found a fabulous foodies and wine shop - YES! The wine bottles in the middle are about a meter high - I said to Ryan, how on earth do people get them home... then we over heard someone ordering crates of them to be shipped. CRATES!

It was hot hot hot so paddling is in order!
