The final leg of our really long shuffle!
Nijo castle, we made it just before sunset.
We brought one of these for a treat - Amazing, it was custard-filled, I was way over-happy about this :)
The gates were beautiful.
And we had arrived just in time for the Sakura illuminations.
Up lighting makes for some lovely photos!
The paths were lined with pretty lanterns, which upon closer inspection had different scenic images on.
Some lovely Japanese lady asked if we would like a photo... Ok she mimed but we got it :)
Then we discovered the castle itself was closed for the illuminations.. typical!
But we found this instead a mini market where they sold tea's and silks and pretty things - we tried SAKE and brought some speciality versions - Plum and Lemon, tastes great over ice.
And a stunning bonus, a performance in a tent with some eerie music, but it was entrancing too.
On the way home, this prompted Ryan to burst into StarWars themed jokes..
And after our 20 km + stretch (we did further after the map :))
We felt we should go back to our new favourite place/BBQ to eat in out town... which turns out to be Korean!
Worthwhile day!
